Where troweled rubber gets used
One material, many jobs. Below are the main uses Safescapes lists, with photos of their own installs. Each section notes what the company says matters for that use.

Looks and peace of mind
Colours and designs let a pool deck stand out and make the backyard a place friends and family want to be. A non-slip surface keeps the focus on having fun.
Non-slip
Stays non-slip when wet, which suits the area around a pool.
Anti-fungal and anti-bacterial
The surface resists bacteria and fungus, so the deck doesn't become a breeding ground for germs.
Easy to clean
A power washer takes off dirt and stains. Hot water, dish soap and a scrub handle tougher ones.
Crack resistant
The rubber expands and contracts, so it resists cracking when the concrete underneath shifts or cracks.
Attention to detail
Copings are wrapped or grooved for a seamless edge into the pool. Pool anchors are raised so the pool can still be covered. Borders and designs are marked out for crisp lines.
Pool decks (SafeFlex™)
Safescapes' signature home project. The surface is non-slip when wet, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, so the deck doesn't become a breeding ground for germs. It also flexes over shifting concrete instead of cracking with it. The company says the details make the job: copings are either wrapped or grooved for a seamless transition into the pool, pool anchors are raised so covers still fit, and borders and designs are marked out for crisp lines.

Patios and walkways
Cracked or sunken concrete, old interlock and stone can be covered without demolition. A wide range of base colours can be blended to match a home, with borders and designs troweled in by hand.

Entranceways and steps
Safescapes calls the front entrance the first and last thing you see each day. SafeFlex™ covers worn porches and walkways in one continuous pour, leaving fewer exposed edges. In winter it's easy to shovel and snow-blower safe, the porous surface keeps ice from bonding, and ice melter is safe to use. Gouges can be fixed with a seamless patch.

Driveways and garages (SafePave™)
Safescapes pitches SafePave™ against the cracking, pitting and shifting that Canadian winters do to driveways and garage floors. Rubber can be built up to fill and level problem areas. Hard-curing binders and dense granules handle dropped tools and cars driving over it. In a garage workshop, the softer surface is easier on knees and joints. You can clean it with a power washer, shop vacuum, broom or blower.

Playgrounds, daycares and schools (SafeTop™)
SafeTop™ EPDM rubber surfacing is used in municipal parks, backyard playgrounds and daycares. It goes over recycled rubber base layers laid on a compacted sub-surface. Safescapes says its playground installations have passed inspections and exceeded ASTM and CSA testing standards. For schools and daycares, it pitches custom designs such as tracks, shapes, colours and nature scenes that turn the play surface into a learning tool.

Commercial, sport and fitness
Safescapes also does commercial work: interactive play areas, sports courts, barns, anti-fatigue and stress-relief flooring, and business settings. The company argues that a pour-in-place system's long life and low maintenance make up for the upfront cost.

Restaurant and bar patios
The same pour-in-place system covers worn pavers on commercial patios. Here's a bar patio before and after.

Equestrian barns (SafeHoof™)
SafeHoof™ is Safescapes' equestrian flooring. The company describes it as a robust but forgiving surface that resists damage from even the most spirited horses, with cushioning and anti-slip features for the horse's well-being. Non-porous options are available for wash stalls. The flooring is seamlessly bonded, and the surface meets the edges of adjoining areas precisely, so people and horses move smoothly from one area to the next.
